I don't want to seem like, "I'm just another hater." I see a lot of potential in the idea of this game, and it's pretty good aesthetically. Just try not to take the criticism I have personally.

*possible minor spoilers*

In my opinion, what is missing at the beginning of the game is some kind of method to really ground players to the story. One easy method is giving the protagonist a relatable struggle as soon as possible. Survival in and of itself isn't as personal as you may think. The reality is that most people, who live in the first world, have enough time to worry about petty things other than survival. Possibly having a troublesome sibling is a more relatable struggle. That is something that is personal.

I know you want to establish the setting, plot, and characters upfront, but I would say there is quite a bit of exposition before attempting to make the story personal. If you hook people emotionally as quickly as possible, then many people are willing to sit through even the most dry, boring, and predictable plot. Your story, for all I know, could be extremely well written, but without a good, immediate, emotional hook, a lot of people won't even give you the chance.

I'm not trying to tell you what to do, and I'm not saying I could do better. I just want you to consider what I have said. I hope your work finds the audience that would best appreciate it.

that's wonderful criticism! Thank you for taking the time to share it, and explain it in a clear way!

I'll definitely consider these points when continuing development.   No worries :)

Wow Ash this is neat-o. The mouse functionality is so refreshing. I'll vote for your game just because of it. :)
